    Présentation de la Confrérie de l'Ordre des Bières de Jenlain. Qui sommes nous ? THE BROTHERHOOD IN PHOTOS MEMBERS OF THE BROTHERHOOD Dignitary members: There are currently 8 of them. Mr. Philippe WATTIER - Grand Master: He is the leader of the Brotherhood and plays the role of director and main actor during the ceremonies. Mr. Vincent CROY - Grand Governor: He is the administrative head of the Brotherhood. He assists the Grand Master and the president in the management of the brotherhood. Mr. Daniel GRAVEZ - Food Officer: He assists the Grand Master in the conduct of ceremonies and commands the processions. Mr. Jean-Paul CUVILLIEZ - Guardian of Traditions: He is the specialist in beer science, the reference in terms of history, traditions and production of all craft beer. Mr. Bernard LIMELETTE - Master Barrel: He is responsible for the tastings. Mr. Serge PASSEPONT and Mr. Gérôme Scoyez - Porte Fourquet: These are the guards of the Grand Master. The fourquet was the instrument used to mix the brew and which became the emblem of brewers in the 14th century. Mr. Frédéric PAMELARD - Grand Sonneur: Hunting horn player who announces the inductions. Mr. Frédéric SZABLA - Standard Bearer: He proudly displays the colours of the brotherhood and always leads the way in parades. Mr. Michael Aubry - Barrel holder: He is responsible for transporting the brewery barrel during our parades, for this he uses a period tool called a Tinet. Full members: There are currently 11 of them. Annie CUVILLIEZ: She is the wife of our Guardian of Traditions. Maria LIMELETTE: She is the wife of Master Fût who is a former employee of the DUYCK brewery. Caroline CROY: She is the wife of the Grand Governor. Isabelle SZABLA: She is the wife of Standard Bearer Jérôme and Anne BULTOT. Sylvie Scoyez. She is the wife of Porte Fourquet Brigitte VEINAND Sophie Westerlynck Partner of Michaël Aubry who joined us at the start of 2022. The claimant or petitioning members: Maëva Carpentier and Patrick Degallaix, our two new members, who joined us during our ordinary general meeting on October 4, 2024.     Recette conviviale de la Confrérie de l'Ordre des Bières de Jenlain. RECIPE OF THE BROTHERHOOD Beef with jenlain beer 6 persons Preparation: 1 hour + marinade Cooking: 1 hour Ingredients: 800 g to 1 kg of beef chuck. a 1/2 bottle of Jenlain (northern amber beer, 75 cl). 2 or 3 large onions. 2 or 3 carrots. mustard. blond brown sugar. thyme, bay leaf, juniper berries. salt, freshly ground pepper. olive oil. garlic. a small can of peeled tomatoes. Preparation: Rub the slices of beef with the thyme, put them in a dish and cover halfway with the Jenlain. Leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 8 hours (you can put it in the fridge in the morning for the evening). Dip the slices of meat in the mustard and sprinkle them lightly with brown sugar. Brown the meat in a pot (with olive oil, it's better for your health). Remove the meat and brown the onions and carrots. Add bay leaf, Juniper berries, salt, pepper and meat .... Cook a little longer and deglaze with the beer which was used to marinate the meat. Simmer for at least an hour over low heat Add the tomatoes at the end (not essential, it depends mainly on the accompaniment). You can serve with fries (real! Not frozen ...) , or vegetables (cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, etc ...) If you like, you can prick the meat with garlic from the start.

    Histoire de la bière en vidéo raconté par Raymond Duyck et Ronny Couteur THE LEGEND OF GAMBRINUS Gambrinus lived in Condé on Escaut, a small town in Flanders, where he worked as a carillonneur. He was in love with Flandrine, his master's daughter, who was a glassmaker ; but Flandrine was not in love with him. He began to tremble, to the point of not being able to play any more, and the inhabitants of Fresnes put him in prison for nocturnal uproar after having insulted and beaten him. When he was released a month later, he wanted to kill himself, but the devil suggested that he forget Flandrine in exchange for his soul, which he would come to look for thirty years later. Gambrinus accepted the pact. He got rich by gambling, but he still had not forgotten the glassmaker's daughter. He met the devil again, who gave him seeds to plant hops and showed him how to make a chime that no one could resist. Gambrinus then organized a party to which all were invited. The inhabitants of Fresnes found the beer very bitter. Gambrinus then began to play the chime and everyone danced until they were exhausted. Gambrinus' revenge was over. But the locals scrambled for the beer to cool off and found that the more you drank, the sweeter it was. The drink became known beyond the borders of the country and the king of Flanders, to reward Gambrinus for this success, appointed him duke, count and lord. But he preferred the title of " King of beer »That the inhabitants of Fresnes had given him. Shortly afterwards, Flandrine decided to speak to her, but he had not recognized her and offered her a drink ... he had forgotten her. When the thirty years were over and the devil returned, Gambrinus played the chime until the devil found it unbearable and disappeared without asking for his rest. Gambrinus lived happily for a hundred more years, still drinking beer and playing the chimes. When he died, a barrel of beer was found in its place. : this is why it has no grave.

    Chapitre de la Confrérie The Red and Black The Brotherhood of the Order of Beers of Jenlain created its own beer at the beginning of 2024, "La Rouge et Noire", in homage to the color of its costume and to the legendary amber beer of Jenlain. Following the success encountered during the Festibière 2024, the Brotherhood decided to repeat the experience and brew a new variant for the Christmas Beer on November 22, 'La Rouge et Noire de Noël'.     Festibière 2024 un retour attendu dans le village de Jenlain BEERFEST 2024 Relive the 10th edition of the Jenlain Beer Festival On March 23 and 24, the Jenlain Beer Festival was held at the Jenlain village and sports hall. 30 exhibitors were present this weekend, and there were entertainment and food on site! Beer lovers had really missed him, and they were impatient to see him back in the saddle. Well, here it is. The Festibière, organized by the Jenlinoise Tourism Association (AJT), in partnership with the municipality and the Brotherhood of the Jenlain Beer Order, made its return on March 24! Around twenty local and regional craft breweries were present. Some proudly displayed the medal obtained at the Salon de l'agriculture , including the Au Baron brewery and the Terre et tradition brewery in Quérénaing. Derived products were exhibited to the public, including food products made with beer such as hop candies. On Sunday, tegestophiles (collectors of beer-related objects) occupied several stands, in front of which lovers of the little foam stopped.

  • Jenlain beer mussels | confreriejenlain

    RECIPE OF THE BROTHERHOOD Jenlain beer mussels 6 persons) Preparation: 20 minutes. Cooking: 30 minutes Ingredients : 1 kg 500 of mussels (preferably bouchot). 1/2 teaspoon of coarse salt. Freshly ground pepper. 1 large onion. 2 shallots (preferably gray). 2 tablespoons of olive oil. 1 sprig of thyme. 3 bay leaves. 2 cloves. 3 cloves of garlic. 1/2 bottle of Janlain beer. 20 grams of butter (optional). Preperation: Peel and cut the onion and shallots apart, brown the onion in olive oil, after a color setting, add the shallots, pour in the Jenlain and let the alcohol from the beer evaporate for 5 minutes During this time, clean the mussels and add them. Season with salt and pepper, finely chop the garlic; stir in the thyme, bay leaf and cloves; cover and let mussels open, stirring occasionally. Do not cook too long to avoid hardening of the molds. Remove from the heat and add the chopped parsley. Before serving, add the butter to give a little nutty taste. Serve with fresh but not iced Jenlain beer.
